Scram helps you detect where your car is parked in San Francisco, check street-cleaning rules, and schedule reminders to move your car.
This policy explains what Scram uses, what stays on your iPhone, what may be sent to outside services, and how to contact us.
Location
Scram uses your iPhone's location to detect likely parking events, let you manually set or correct your parking spot, show your parked spot on a map, match the spot to street-cleaning rules, and schedule reminders.
Scram stores your current parked-car spot and related reminder state on your iPhone so the app can show it again when you reopen it.
Some location-related lookups may use network services:
- Scram downloads public San Francisco street-cleaning, street-centerline, meter, and curb-regulation datasets from DataSF/SFMTA services.
- For SFMTA Digital Curb lookups, Scram sends a nearby coordinate to SFMTA's public ArcGIS service so it can return curb rules near that spot.
- Scram may use Apple's system map and reverse-geocoding services to show maps or identify a nearby street name.
We do not sell your location data. We do not use it for advertising.
Motion And Fitness
Scram uses Motion & Fitness signals, such as driving, walking, and stationary activity, to help distinguish a real parking event from ordinary movement.
Motion data is processed on your iPhone for parking detection. Scram may keep recent diagnostic records on your iPhone so detection problems can be investigated.
Bluetooth Car Stereo Signals
Scram uses Bluetooth permission and iOS audio-route changes to help detect when a drive ends. This is used to recognize events such as your phone disconnecting from a Bluetooth car stereo.
The production app does not scan for or profile nearby Bluetooth devices. It uses Bluetooth authorization state and iOS audio-route information to support parking detection. Diagnostic records on your iPhone may include audio-route details such as the type or name of a connected car stereo route when iOS provides that information.
Notifications
Scram uses local notifications to remind you before street cleaning. Reminder scheduling is handled on your iPhone through iOS notification services.
Feedback And Support
If you choose to send feedback from Scram, the app creates an email to [email protected]. The email includes fields for your comments and an optional diagnostics section.
The diagnostics section may include app version, build, iOS version, device model, permission status, parked coordinate, matched rule, match confidence, next cleaning time, and reminder status. You can delete the diagnostics section before sending.
Diagnostics Stored On Your iPhone
Scram may keep local diagnostic logs on your iPhone to help understand parking detection, rule matching, and reminder scheduling. These logs may include location coordinates, permission states, motion evidence, Bluetooth/audio-route evidence, parking candidates, matched rules, and notification scheduling events.
These diagnostics are not automatically sent to us. They are shared only if you choose to send feedback or otherwise export and send them.
Analytics And Crash Reporting
Scram uses PostHog for privacy-safe analytics and crash reporting so we can understand onboarding failures, permission outcomes, parking-detection reliability, rule-lookup results, reminder outcomes, notification opens, and crashes.
Analytics may include app version, build, iOS version, device model, an anonymous device identifier, permission status, onboarding step, coarse parking-detection outcome, rule-lookup outcome, reminder status, lead-time bucket, notification-open kind, and crash details.
Analytics do not intentionally include precise parked coordinates, street addresses, raw Bluetooth identifiers, nearby device data, raw detector timelines, full parking-rule descriptions, or sign photos.
PostHog is configured with IP anonymization on, autocapture off, console capture off, and session recording off.
Analytics are not used for advertising or tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
How We Use Information
We use information to detect likely parking events, match your parked spot to San Francisco curb and street-cleaning rules, schedule and display move-car reminders, let you correct your parked spot or curb side, troubleshoot bugs when you send feedback, and respond to support requests.
We do not use your information for third-party advertising. We do not sell your personal information.
Sharing
Scram may share limited information with service providers only as needed to make the app work:
- Apple system services may receive map, location, or reverse-geocoding requests when you use maps or nearby-street features.
- DataSF/SFMTA services may receive network requests for public parking-rule datasets. SFMTA Digital Curb requests include a coordinate near your selected or detected parking spot.
- PostHog may receive the analytics and crash-reporting events described above.
- Cloudflare routes emails sent to our support address.
- Google/Gmail receives support emails forwarded to our support inbox.
These services may also receive standard technical information from network requests, such as your IP address, device/network metadata, and request time.
Retention
Scram stores your current parked spot, matched rules, reminder settings, and local diagnostics on your iPhone until they are replaced, cleared, or removed by deleting the app.
Support emails you send to us may be retained as long as reasonably needed to respond, troubleshoot, maintain records, and improve Scram.
Analytics and crash-reporting data are retained according to our PostHog project settings.
Your Choices
You can control Scram's permissions in iOS Settings:

- Motion & Fitness
- Notifications
You can delete Scram to remove app data stored on your iPhone. You can also contact us at [email protected] to request deletion of support emails or other information you sent to us.
Children
Scram is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy as Scram changes. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and publish the revised policy.
